Persist Against That "Conventional Wisdom" - Ask Why!

Conventional wisdom is generally correct, but it is not always correct. If something doesn't sound right to you then you need to ask why. Then you need to listen very carefully to the explanation and see if that makes sense to you; if it doesn't ask more questions.

If the conventional wisdom purveyors fail to answer your question in a simple and logical way, then it is time for you to do more investigation. Conventional-wisdom once said that the earth was flat, and conventional-wisdom said that men could not build flying machines. Conventional-wisdom thought it was impossible to go to the moon and yet, today we know all of that previous conventional-wisdom was bogus.

This is why you must persist against this psychological thought processes for instance, just because a group of people proclaims that global warming has been decided, does not mean that global warming exists. Just because your college professor tells you that you should think a certain way or hold a certain political view does not mean that it is correct; that it is the best for the individual, or the best for our nation.

Now they might give diplomas and certificates for those students that answer all the questions as these purveyors of knowledge expected. The professors also might tell you that once you achieve this that you are wise. But it is the wise man who persists against conventional wisdom. I hope you will consider this philosophical thought as you search for the truth, because it's what separates the thinkers, and innovators from the followers and sheeple.
